NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Lactic acid and pyruvate transport across plasma membranes is catalyzed by members of the proton-linked monocarboxylate transporter (MCT) family, which has been designated solute carrier family-16. Each MCT appears to have slightly different substrate and inhibitor specificities and transport kinetics, which are related to the metabolic requirements of the tissues in which it is found. The MCTs, which include MCT1 (SLC16A1; MIM 600682) and MCT2 (SLC16A7; MIM 603654), are characterized by 12 predicted transmembrane domains (Price et al., 1998 [PubMed 9425115]).[supplied by OMIM]
Uniprot Description
SLC16A3: Proton-linked monocarboxylate transporter. Catalyzes the rapid transport across the plasma membrane of many monocarboxylates such as lactate, pyruvate, branched-chain oxo acids derived from leucine, valine and isoleucine, and the ketone bodies acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate and acetate. Belongs to the major facilitator superfamily. Monocarboxylate porter (TC 2.A.1.13) family.

Product Notes
The SLC16A3 slc16a3 (Catalog #AAA614511) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Monocarboxylate Transporter 4 (MCT4) reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Monocarboxylate Transporter 4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1-5ug/ml using ECL ELISA: 1:10,000-1:100,000 using 50-100ng of control peptide/well. Immunohistochemistry: 5-10ug Paraformaldehyde fixed. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC16A3 slc16a3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Monocarboxylate Transporter 4, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
