Related Product Information for anti-SLC16A7 antibody
Functions as a proton-linked monocarboxylate transporter and catalyzes the rapid transport across the plasma membrane of many monocarboxylates such as lactate, pyruvate, branched-chain oxo acids derived from leucine, valine and isoleucine, and the ketone bodies acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate and acetate. MCT2 is a very high affinity pyruvate transporter. MCT2 is a cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein with high expression in testis, moderate to low expression in spleen, heart, kidney, pancreas, skeletal muscle, brain and leukocytes. The normal expression of MCT2 is restricted to low levels of expression in normal tissues, but is widely expressed in cancer cells.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the monocarboxylate transporter family. Members in this family transport metabolites, such as lactate, pyruvate, and ketone bodies. The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the proton-linked transport of monocarboxylates and has the highest affinity for pyruvate. This protein has been reported to be more highly expressed in prostate and colorectal cancer specimens when compared to control specimens. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2012]

Uniprot Description

Function: Proton-linked monocarboxylate transporter. Catalyzes the rapid transport across the plasma membrane of many monocarboxylates such as lactate, pyruvate, branched-chain oxo acids derived from leucine, valine and isoleucine, and the ketone bodies acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate and acetate. MCT2 is a high affinity pyruvate transporter.

Subunit structure: Interacts with GRID2IP

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

Tissue specificity: High expression in testis, moderate to low in spleen, heart, kidney, pancreas, skeletal muscle, brain and Leukocyte. Restricted expression in normal tissues, but widely expressed in cancer cells.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the major facilitator superfamily. Monocarboxylate porter (TC 2.A.1.13) family. [View classification]

Product Notes

The SLC16A7 slc16a7 (Catalog #AAA396047) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Monocarboxylate Transport 2 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Monocarboxylate Transport 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC16A7 slc16a7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Monocarboxylate Transport 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
