Biological Significance
L-glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system and activates both ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors. The metabotropic glutamate receptors are a family of G protein-coupled receptors, that have been divided into 3 groups. The Glutamate Receptor, Metabotropic, 1, (mGluR1 alpha) activates phospholipase C and participates in the central action of glutamate in the central nervous system, such as long-term potentiation in the hippocampus and long-term depression in the cerebellum.
Cross-Reactivity
Mouse, rat
Biohazard Information
This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
Immunogen
mGluR1 alpha antibody was raised in rabbit using a synthetic peptide comprising internal residues of the human GluR1 alpha protein as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Uniprot Description

mGluR1: Receptor for glutamate. The activity of this receptor is mediated by a G-protein that activates a phosphatidylinositol- calcium second messenger system. May participate in the central action of glutamate in the CNS, such as long-term potentiation in the hippocampus and long-term depression in the cerebellum. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. The PPXXF motif binds HOMER1, HOMER2 and HOMER3. Interacts with SIAH1, RYR1, RYR2, ITPR1, SHANK1, SHANK3 and GRASP. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 3 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; GPCR, family 3; Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, GPCR

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q24

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; dendrite; postsynaptic density; plasma membrane; nucleus

Molecular Function: G-protein coupled receptor activity; protein binding; glutamate receptor activity

Biological Process: synaptic transmission; G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; elevation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration during G-protein signaling, coupled to IP3 second messenger (phospholipase C activating); regulation of synaptic transmission, glutamatergic; activation of MAPKK activity; activation of MAPK activity; protein kinase C activation; metabotropic glutamate receptor signaling pathway; locomotory behavior; regulation of sensory perception of pain; sensory perception of pain

Product Notes

The mGluR1 alpha grm1 (Catalog #AAA534892) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The mGluR1 alpha antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's mGluR1 alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB). IHC: 1:100-1:500 WB: 1:500-1:1,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the mGluR1 alpha grm1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "mGluR1 alpha, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
