Rabbit anti-Human Melanopsin Polyclonal Antibody | anti-OPN4 antibody
Anti-Melanopsin Antibody
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Opsins are members of the guanine nucleotide-binding protein (G protein)-coupled receptor superfamily. This gene encodes a photoreceptive opsin protein that is expressed within the ganglion and amacrine cell layers of the retina. In mouse, retinal ganglion cell axons expressing this gene projected to the suprachiasmatic nucleus and other brain nuclei involved in circadian photoentrainment. In mouse, this protein is coupled to a transient receptor potential (TRP) ion channel through a G protein signaling pathway and produces a physiologic light response via membrane depolarization and increased intracellular calcium. The protein functions as a sensory photopigment and may also have photoisomerase activity. Experiments with knockout mice indicate that this gene attenuates, but does not abolish, photoentrainment. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
melanopsin: Photoreceptor required for regulation of circadian rhythm. Contributes to pupillar reflex and other non-image forming responses to light. May be able to isomerize covalently bound all- trans retinal back to 11-cis retinal. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. Opsin subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The OPN4 opn4 (Catalog #AAA821028) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Melanopsin Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Melanopsin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB (1/500 - 1/1000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OPN4 opn4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Melanopsin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
