Related Product Information for anti-MC4R antibody
Melanocortin 4 receptor is a G-protein-coupled receptor from the melanocortin receptor family that binds amelanocyte stimulating hormon ~(a-MSH). These receptors transduce signals provided by a-MSH by coupling to the G-protein and activating adenyl ate cyclase). MC4R is located mainly in the hypothalamus in the brain and it is responsible for appetite and satiety regulation. It also plays a role in energy homeostasis and somatic growth. Mutations in MC4R have been associated with inherited obesity2.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane-bound receptor and member of the melanocortin receptor family. The encoded protein interacts with adrenocorticotropic and MSH hormones and is mediated by G proteins. This is an intronless gene. Defects in this gene are a cause of autosomal dominant obesity. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Uniprot Description

Product Notes

The MC4R mc4r (Catalog #AAA524440) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Mouse Melanocortin receptor 4, Affinity Purified, (Polyclonal), (Rabbit IgG) reacts with Mouse, Rat, Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Melanocortin receptor 4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC)-Paraffin. This antibody is suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot (2 ug/mL) and Immunohistochemistry with FFPE sections (10 ug/mL). This antibody has not been tested in other applications. N.B Appropriate control samples should always be included in any labeling studies *For For optimal results in various applications, it is recommended that each investigator determine dilutions appropriate for individual use. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MC4R mc4r for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Melanocortin receptor 4, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
