NCBI Description

The multiprotein Mediator complex is a coactivator required for activation of RNA polymerase II transcription by DNA bound transcription factors. The protein encoded by this gene is thought to be a subunit of the Mediator complex. This gene is located within the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chromosome 17. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

MED9: Component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. Mediator is recruited to promoters by direct interactions with regulatory proteins and serves as a scaffold for the assembly of a functional preinitiation complex with RNA polymerase II and the general transcription factors. Belongs to the Mediator complex subunit 9 family.

Protein type: Transcription initiation complex

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p11.2

Cellular Component: Srb-mediator complex

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter

Product Notes

The MED9 med9 (Catalog #AAA6320079) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MED9, CT (MED9, MED25, Mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription subunit 9, Mediator complex subunit 9) (APC) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MED9 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MED9 med9 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MED9, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
