Related Product Information for anti-MCAT antibody
The protein encoded by this gene is found exclusively in
the mitochondrion, where it catalyzes the transfer of a malonyl
group from malonyl-CoA to the mitochondrial acyl carrier protein.
The encoded protein may be part of a fatty acid synthase complex
that is more like the type II prokaryotic and plastid complexes
rather than the type I human cytosolic complex. Two transcript
variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is found exclusively in the mitochondrion, where it catalyzes the transfer of a malonyl group from malonyl-CoA to the mitochondrial acyl carrier protein. The encoded protein may be part of a fatty acid synthase complex that is more like the type II prokaryotic and plastid complexes rather than the type I human cytosolic complex. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2012]

Uniprot Description

MCAT: Catalyzes the transfer of a malonyl moiety from malonyl- CoA to the free thiol group of the phosphopantetheine arm of the mitochondrial ACP protein (NDUFAB1). This suggests the existence of the biosynthesis of fatty acids in mitochondrias. Belongs to the type II malonyltransferase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transferase; EC 2.3.1.39; Lipid Metabolism - fatty acid biosynthesis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13.31

Cellular Component: mitochondrion

Molecular Function: transferase activity; [acyl-carrier-protein] S-malonyltransferase activity

Biological Process: metabolic process; fatty acid biosynthetic process

Product Notes

The MCAT mcat (Catalog #AAA9209351) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 316-344. The MCAT Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MCAT can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MCAT mcat for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MCAT, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
