NCBI Description

Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. The enzyme encoded by this gene degrades proteoglycans, fibronectin, elastin and casein and differs from most MMP family members in that it lacks a conserved C-terminal protein domain. The enzyme is involved in wound healing, and studies in mice suggest that it regulates the activity of defensins in intestinal mucosa. The gene is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3. [provided by RefSeq]

Product Notes

The MMP7 mmp7 (Catalog #AAA616724) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Matrilysin (MMP7, matrix metalloproteinase 7 (matrilysin, uterine), HGNC:7174, MMP-7, MPSL1, PUMP-1, matrin, matrix metalloproteinase 7, uterine matrilysin) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Matrilysin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:64,000. Western Blot: Approx 28kD band observed in Human Breast, Ovary and Placenta lysates (calculated MW of 29.7kD according to NP_002414.1). Recommended concentration: 0.03-0.1ug/ml., 0.03ug/ml staining of Human Breast lysate (35ug protein in RIPA buffer). Primary incubation was 1 hour. Detected by chemiluminescence. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MMP7 mmp7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Matrilysin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
