NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a magnesium cation transporter protein that localizes to the cell membrane. This protein also associates with N-oligosaccharyl transferase and therefore may have a role in N-glycosylation. Mutations in this gene cause mental retardation X-linked type 95 (MRX95). This gene may have multiple in-frame translation initiation sites, one of which would encode a shorter protein with an N-terminus containing a signal peptide at amino acids 1-29. Uniprot Description
MAGT1: May be involved in N-glycosylation through its association with N-oligosaccharyl transferase. May be involved in Mg(2+) transport in epithelial cells. Defects in MAGT1 are the cause of mental retardation X- linked type 95 (MRX95). Mental retardation is characterized by significantly sub-average general intellectual functioning associated with impairments in adaptative behavior and manifested during the developmental period. In contrast to syndromic or specific X-linked mental retardation which also present with associated physical, neurological and/or psychiatric manifestations, intellectual deficiency is the only primary symptom of non-syndromic X-linked mental retardation. Defects in MAGT1 are the cause of immunodeficiency X- linked with magnesium defect Epstein-Barr virus infection and neoplasia (XMEN). XMEN is a disease characterized by CD4 lymphopenia, severe chronic viral infections, and defective T- lymphocyte activation. Belongs to the OST3/OST6 family.

Product Notes
The MAGT1 magt1 (Catalog #AAA9204119) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 44-71. The MAGT1 Antibody (N-term) reacts with Human, mouse (Predicted Reactivity: Chicken) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MAGT1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MAGT1 magt1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MAGT1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
