Host
Rabbit
Reactivity
Human
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This affinity purified antibody is directed against human LIM kinase protein. The product was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest reactivity with this protein from human, chimpanzee and orangutan based on 100% homology for the immunogen sequence. Expect cross reactivity with LIM kinase from mouse and rat sources as only a single amino acid residue change is found within the immunogen sequence (94% positive by BLAST). Cross reactivity with LIM kinase homologues from other sources has not been determined.

Applicable Applications for anti-LIMK1 antibody
Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
Application Notes
This affinity purified antibody has been tested for use in ELISA and by western blot. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. Expect a band approximately 73 kDa in size corresponding to LIM kinase by western blotting in the appropriate cell lysate or extract.
Immunogen
This affinity purified antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeated immunizations with a synthetic peptide corresponding aa 630-647 of human LIM kinase protein.
Preparation and Storage
This product is stable for several weeks at 4 degree C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at-20 degree C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Expiration date is one (1) year from date of receipt.

Related Product Information for anti-LIMK1 antibody
LIM Kinase is also known as LIM-domain containing protein kinase, LIMK-1 and LIMK. There are approximately 40 known eukaryotic LIM proteins, so named for the LIM domains they contain. LIM domains are highly conserved cysteine-rich structures containing 2 zinc fingers. Although zinc fingers usually function by binding to DNA or RNA, the LIM motif probably mediates protein-protein interactions. LIM kinase 1 and LIM kinase 2 belong to a small subfamily with a unique combination of 2 N-terminal LIM motifs and a C-terminal protein kinase domain. LIMK1 is likely to be a component of an intracellular signaling pathway and may be involved in brain development. LIMK1 hemizygosity is implicated in the impaired visuospatial constructive cognition of Williams syndrome. Two splice variant have been identified. LIM kinase has a cytoplamic localization.

NCBI Description

There are approximately 40 known eukaryotic LIM proteins, so named for the LIM domains they contain. LIM domains are highly conserved cysteine-rich structures containing 2 zinc fingers. Although zinc fingers usually function by binding to DNA or RNA, the LIM motif probably mediates protein-protein interactions. LIM kinase-1 and LIM kinase-2 belong to a small subfamily with a unique combination of 2 N-terminal LIM motifs and a C-terminal protein kinase domain. LIMK1 is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates actin polymerization via phosphorylation and inactivation of the actin binding factor cofilin. This protein is ubiquitously expressed during development and plays a role in many cellular processes associated with cytoskeletal structure. This protein also stimulates axon growth and may play a role in brain development. LIMK1 hemizygosity is implicated in the impaired visuospatial constructive cognition of Williams syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]

Product Notes

The LIMK1 (Catalog #AAA4157715) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-LIM Kinase Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's LIM Kinase can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). This affinity purified antibody has been tested for use in ELISA and by western blot. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. Expect a band approximately 73 kDa in size corresponding to LIM kinase by western blotting in the appropriate cell lysate or extract. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LIMK1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LIM Kinase, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
