Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Lymphocyte function-associated antigen 3 (CD58) detection.
Background: CD58, or lymphocyte function-associated antigen 3 (LFA-3), is a cell adhesion molecule expressed on Antigen Presenting Cells (APC), particularly macrophages. It binds to CD2 (LFA-2) on T cells and is important in strengthening the adhesion between the T cells and Professional Antigen Presenting Cells. This adhesion occurs as part of the transitory initial encounters between T cells and Antigen Presenting Cells before T cell activation, when T cells are roaming the lymph nodes looking at the surface of APCs for peptide:MHC complexes the T-cell receptors are reactive to. The LFA3 gene is mapped to chromosome 1p13, which is the same location as CD2.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The encoded protein is a ligand of the T lymphocyte CD2 protein, and functions in adhesion and activation of T lymphocytes. The protein is localized to the plasma membrane. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2009]

Uniprot Description

CD58: Ligand of the T-lymphocyte CD2 glycoprotein. This interaction is important in mediating thymocyte interactions with thymic epithelial cells, antigen-independent and -dependent interactions of T-lymphocytes with target cells and antigen- presenting cells and the T-lymphocyte rosetting with erythrocytes. In addition, the LFA-3/CD2 interaction may prime response by both the CD2+ and LFA-3+ cells. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p13

Cellular Component: cell surface; membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; receptor binding

Biological Process: heterotypic cell-cell adhesion; leukocyte migration

Product Notes

The CD58 cd58 (Catalog #AAA178408) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-LFA3 Antibody reacts with Human No cross reactivity with other proteins. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's LFA3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. Western Blot: 0.1-0.5mug/ml; Tested Species: Human Immunohistochemisry Paraffin: 0.5-1mug/ml; Tested Species: Human Tested Species:In-house tested species with positive results. By Heat: Boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH6.0, for 20mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections. Other applications have not been tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD58 cd58 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LFA3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
