Related Product Information for anti-Kv1.2 antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily A member 2(KCNA2) detection. Tested with WB in Human;Mouse;Rat.

Background: Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily A member 2, also known as Kv1.2, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the KCNA2 gene. Potassium channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. Four sequence-related potassium channel genes - shaker, shaw, shab, and shal - have been identified in Drosophila, and each has been shown to have human homolog(s). This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, shaker-related subfamily. This member contains six membrane-spanning domains with a shaker-type repeat in the fourth segment. It belongs to the delayed rectifier class, members of which allow nerve cells to efficiently repolarize following an action potential. The coding region of this gene is intronless, and the gene is clustered with genes KCNA3 and KCNA10 on chromosome 1.

Uniprot Description

Kv1.2: Mediates the voltage-dependent potassium ion permeability of excitable membranes. Assuming opened or closed conformations in response to the voltage difference across the membrane, the protein forms a potassium-selective channel through which potassium ions may pass in accordance with their electrochemical gradient. Belongs to the potassium channel family. A (Shaker) (TC 1.A.1.2) subfamily. Kv1.2/KCNA2 sub-subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Channel, potassium; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p13

Cellular Component: axon; cell junction; dendrite; endoplasmic reticulum membrane; integral to plasma membrane; lamellipodium; nerve terminal; perikaryon; plasma membrane; presynaptic membrane; voltage-gated potassium channel complex

Molecular Function: delayed rectifier potassium channel activity; potassium channel activity; protein binding; voltage-gated potassium channel activity

Biological Process: generation of action potential; optic nerve structural organization; potassium ion transport; protein homooligomerization; regulation of circadian sleep/wake cycle, non-REM sleep; regulation of dopamine secretion; sensory perception of pain

Product Notes

The Kv1.2 kcna2 (Catalog #AAA177985) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Kv1.2 Antibody reacts with Mouse, Rat Predicted to work with: Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Kv1.2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot Concentration: 0.1-0.5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Kv1.2 kcna2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Kv1.2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
