Related Product Information for anti-Ku-80 antibody
X-ray repair cross complementing 5 (XRCC5), Homo sapiens. The protein encoded by this gene is the 80-kilodalton subunit of the Ku heterodimer protein which is also known as ATP-dependant DNA helicase II or DNA repair protein XRCC5. Ku is the DNA-binding component of the DNA-dependent protein kinase, and it functions together with the DNA ligase IV-XRCC4 complex in the repair of DNA double-strand break by non-homologous end joining and the completion of V (D)J recombination events. This gene functionally complements Chinese hamster xrs-6, a mutant defective in DNA double-strand break repair and in ability to undergo V (D)J recombination. A rare microsatellite polymorphism in this gene is associated with cancer in patients of varying radiosensitivity. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Ku80: the 80-kilodalton subunit of the Ku complex, also known as ATP-dependant DNA helicase II. A single stranded DNA-dependent ATP-dependent helicase. It functions together with the DNA ligase IV-XRCC4 complex in the repair of DNA double-strand break by non-homologous end joining and the completion of V(D)J recombination events. This gene functionally complements Chinese hamster xrs-6, a mutant defective in DNA double-strand break repair and in ability to undergo V(D)J recombination. A rare microsatellite polymorphism in this gene is associated with cancer in patients of varying radiosensitivity. Has a role in chromosome translocation. The DNA helicase II complex binds preferentially to fork-like ends of double-stranded DNA in a cell cycle-dependent manner. It works in the 3'-5' direction. Binding to DNA may be mediated by p70.

Product Notes

The Ku-80 xrcc5 (Catalog #AAA9458930) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Ku-80 (Phospho Thr714) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Ku-80 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1/500-1/2000 IHC: 1/100-1/300 IF: 1/200-1/1000 ELISA: 1/10000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Ku-80 xrcc5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Ku-80, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
