NCBI Description

This gene encodes the type I keratin 9, an intermediate filament chain expressed only in the terminally differentiated epidermis of palms and soles. Mutations in this gene cause epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

K9: a type I cytoskeletal keratin. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: type I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) [K9 to K20] and type II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa) [K1 to K8]. Both a basic and an acidic keratin are required for filament assembly.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q21.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; intermediate filament; nucleus

Molecular Function: structural constituent of cytoskeleton

Biological Process: skin development; epidermis development; intermediate filament organization; spermatogenesis

Disease: Palmoplantar Keratoderma, Epidermolytic

Product Notes

The KRT9 krt9 (Catalog #AAA627549) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The KRT9, ID (K444) (Keratin, Type I Cytoskeletal 9, Cytokeratin-9, CK-9, Keratin-9, K9) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KRT9 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:50-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KRT9 krt9 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KRT9, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
