NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the type I (acidic) cytokeratin family, which belongs to the superfamily of intermediate filament (IF) proteins. Keratins are heteropolymeric structural proteins which form the intermediate filament. These filaments, along with actin microfilaments and microtubules, compose the cytoskeleton of epithelial cells. Mutations in this gene are associated with epidermolytic hyperkeratosis. This gene is located within a cluster of keratin family members on chromosome 17q21. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

K10: a type I cytoskeletal keratin. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: type I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) [K9 to K20] and type II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa) [K1 to K8]. Both a basic and an acidic keratin are required for filament assembly. Generally associates with K1.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q21

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; extracellular space; intermediate filament; keratin filament; membrane; nucleus

Molecular Function: structural constituent of epidermis

Biological Process: keratinocyte differentiation

Disease: Epidermolytic Hyperkeratosis; Erythroderma, Ichthyosiform, Congenital Reticular; Ichthyosis, Cyclic, With Epidermolytic Hyperkeratosis

Product Notes

The KRT10 krt10 (Catalog #AAA2400084) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-KRT10 / CK10 / Cytokeratin 10 Antibody (aa157-187) IHC-plus reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KRT10 / CK10 / Cytokeratin 10 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Flow Cytometry (1:10 - 1:50) IHC-P (1:100 - 1:200) WB (1:1000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KRT10 krt10 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KRT10 / CK10 / Cytokeratin 10, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
