NCBI Description

inward rectifying potassium channel; may be involved in renal pH regulation [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Kir5.1: Inward rectifier potassium channels are characterized by a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into the cell rather than out of it. Their voltage dependence is regulated by the concentration of extracellular potassium; as external potassium is raised, the voltage range of the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. The inward rectification is mainly due to the blockage of outward current by internal magnesium. KCNJ16 may be involved in the regulation of fluid and pH balance. Belongs to the inward rectifier-type potassium channel (TC 1.A.2.1) family. KCNJ16 subfamily.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral

Cellular Component: basolateral plasma membrane; integral to membrane; integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: inward rectifier potassium channel activity; protein binding

Biological Process: potassium ion import

Product Notes

The Kir5.1 kcnj16 (Catalog #AAA7600819) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Kir5.1 Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Kir5.1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Kir5.1 kcnj16 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Kir5.1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
