Uniprot Description

K2: a type II cytoskeletal keratin. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: type I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) [K9 to K20] and type II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa) [K1 to K8]. Both a basic and an acidic keratin are required for filament assembly. Generally associates with K.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q36

Cellular Component: cornified envelope; extracellular space; keratin filament; membrane; nucleus

Molecular Function: cytoskeletal protein binding; structural constituent of epidermis; structural molecule activity

Biological Process: epidermis development; intermediate filament organization; keratinization; keratinocyte activation; keratinocyte migration; keratinocyte proliferation; peptide cross-linking

Product Notes

The KRT2 krt2 (Catalog #AAA2007134) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Keratin 2 (KRT2) reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Keratin 2 (KRT2) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) - Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Western blotting: 1:100-400 Immunocytochemistry in formalin fixed cells: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry in paraffin section: 1:50-200 Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 1:100-200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KRT2 krt2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Antigen: The target protein is fused with two N-terminal Tags, His-tag and its sequence is listed below. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Keratin 2 (KRT2), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
