Related Product Information for anti-KCNQ1 antibody
This gene encodes a voltage-gated potassium channel
required for the repolarization phase of the cardiac action
potential. The gene product can form heteromultimers with two other
potassium channel proteins, KCNE1 and KCNE3. Mutations in this gene
are associated with hereditary long QT syndrome (also known as
Romano-Ward syndrome), Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome and
familial atrial fibrillation. The gene is located in a region of
chromosome 11 that contains a number of contiguous genes, which are
abnormally imprinted in cancer and the Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome.
This gene is also imprinted, with preferential expression from the
maternal allele in some tissues, excluding cardiac muscle.
Alternatively spliced transcripts encoding distinct isoforms have
been described.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a voltage-gated potassium channel required for repolarization phase of the cardiac action potential. This protein can form heteromultimers with two other potassium channel proteins, KCNE1 and KCNE3. Mutations in this gene are associated with hereditary long QT syndrome 1 (also known as Romano-Ward syndrome), Jervell and Lange-Nielsen syndrome, and familial atrial fibrillation. This gene exhibits tissue-specific imprinting, with preferential expression from the maternal allele in some tissues, and biallelic expression in others. This gene is located in a region of chromosome 11 amongst other imprinted genes that are associated with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome (BWS), and itself has been shown to be disrupted by chromosomal rearrangements in patients with BWS. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

Uniprot Description

Kv7.1: a voltage-gated potassium channel protein required for the repolarization phase of the cardiac action potential. Associates with KCNE1 (MinK) to form the I(Ks) cardiac potassium current. Elicits a rapidly activating, potassium-selective outward current. May associate also with KCNE3 (MiRP2) to form the potassium channel that is important for cyclic AMP-stimulated intestinal secretion of chloride ions, which is reduced in cystic fibrosis and pathologically stimulated in cholera and other forms of secretory diarrhea. Abundantly expressed in heart, pancreas, prostate, kidney, small intestine and peripheral blood leukocytes. Less abundant in placenta, lung, spleen, colon, thymus, testis and ovaries. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The KCNQ1 kcnq1 (Catalog #AAA9202228) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 4-33. The KCNQ1 Antibody (N-term) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KCNQ1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KCNQ1 kcnq1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KCNQ1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
