Related Product Information for anti-KCNJ13 antibody
Function: Inward rectifier potassium channels are characterized by a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into the cell rather than out of it. Their voltage dependence is regulated by the concentration of extracellular potassium; as external potassium is raised, the voltage range of the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. The inward rectification is mainly due to the blockage of outward current by internal magnesium. KCNJ13 has a very low single channel conductance, low sensitivity to block by external barium and cesium, and no dependence of its inward rectification properties on the internal blocking particle magnesium.
Post-translational Modifications: Phosphorylation at Ser-201 by PKC strongly inhibits ionic currents, while phosphorylation at Ser-287 by PKA increases them.
Similarity: Belongs to the inward rectifier-type potassium channel (TC 1.A.2.1) family. KCNJ13 subfamily.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the inwardly rectifying potassium channel family of proteins. Members of this family form ion channel pores that allow potassium ions to pass into a cell. The encoded protein belongs to a subfamily of low signal channel conductance proteins that have a low dependence on potassium concentration. Mutations in this gene are associated with snowflake vitreoretinal degeneration. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010]

Product Notes

The KCNJ13 kcnj13 (Catalog #AAA9609914) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The KCNJ13 Antibody reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KCNJ13 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:1000-3000 IHC: 1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KCNJ13 kcnj13 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KCNJ13, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
