Related Product Information for anti-JMJD5 antibody
JMJD5 Antibody: The jumonji domain-containing protein (JMJD) family is defined by the presence of the JmjC domain that is observed in several diverse species. While several JMJD proteins have been identified as being involved in chromatin regulation, histone demethylation and development, the function of JMJD5 has not been identified. JMJD5 is expressed in multiple tissues.

NCBI Description

This gene likely encodes a histone lysine demethylase. Studies of a similar protein in mouse indicate a potential role for this protein as a tumor suppressor. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]

Uniprot Description

JMJD5: Histone demethylase required for G2/M phase cell cycle progression. Specifically demethylates dimethylated 'Lys-36' (H3K36me2) of histone H3, an epigenetic repressive mark, thereby acting as a transcription activator. Regulates expression of CCNA1 (cyclin-A1), leading to regulate cancer cell proliferation. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Demethylase; EC 1.14.11.27; Cell cycle regulation

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16p12.1

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: histone demethylase activity (H3-K36 specific); metal ion binding; chromatin binding

Biological Process: transcription, DNA-dependent; positive regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; G2/M transition of mitotic cell cycle

Product Notes

The JMJD5 kdm8 (Catalog #AAA150216) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The JMJD5 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's JMJD5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). JMJD5 antibody can be used for detection of JMJD5 by Western blot at 1 - 2 mug/mL. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 2.5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the JMJD5 kdm8 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "JMJD5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
