Rabbit anti JIP1 antibody recognizes JIP1 (c-Jun-amino-terminal kinase-interacting protein 1) also known as JNK-interacting protein 1, mitogen-activated protein kinase 8-interacting protein 1 or JNK MAP kinase scaffold protein 1. JIP1 acts as a dedicated scaffold for selected components of the MAPK signaling cascade thereby leading to the formation of an effective JNK signaling module. JIP1 has also been shown to have anti-apoptotic functions.

Uniprot Description

JIP1: a member of the JNK-interacting protein group of scaffold proteins that selectively mediates JNK signaling by aggregating specific components of the MAPK cascade. Required for JNK activation in response to excitotoxic stress. Causes inhibition of JNK-regulated activity by retaining JNK in the cytoplasm and by inhibiting the JNK phosphorylation of c-Jun. May also participate in ApoER2-specific reelin signaling. Directly or indirectly regulates GLUT2 gene expression and beta-cell function. Appears to have a role in cell signaling in mature and developing nerve terminals. May function as a regulator of vesicle transport, through interations with the JNK-signaling components and motor proteins.
