Biological Significance
IL1beta is a proinflammatory cytokine produced in a variety of cells including monocytes, tissue macrophages, keratinocytes and other epithelial cells. Both IL1a and IL1beta binds to the same receptor and has similar if not identical biological properties. These cytokines have a broad range of activities including, stimulation of thymocyte proliferation, by inducing IL2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, mitogenic FGFlike activity and the ability to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. However, whereas IL1beta is a secreted cytokine, IL1a is predominantly a cell-associated cytokine.
Tag/Conjugate
Biotin
Immunogen
IL1 beta antibody (biotin) was raised in rabbit using highly pure recombinant murine IL-1-beta as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution product may be stored at 4 degree C in the short term. For long term storage aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. This cytokine is produced by activated macrophages as a proprotein, which is proteolytically processed to its active form by caspase 1. The encoded protein plays a role in thymocyte proliferation and is involved in the inflammatory response. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2015]

Uniprot Description

IL1B: Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. Monomer. Belongs to the IL-1 family.

Product Notes

The IL1 beta il1b (Catalog #AAA534695) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The IL1 beta antibody (biotin) reacts with Murine IL-1 beta and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IL1 beta can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). ELISA: 0.25-1 ug/ml WB: 0.1-0.2 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL1 beta il1b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL1 beta, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
