Related Product Information for anti-IFIT1 antibody
This gene encodes a protein containing tetratricopeptide repeats that was originally identified as induced upon treatment with interferon. The encoded protein may inhibit viral replication and translational initiation. This gene is located in a cluster on chromosome 10 with five other closely related genes. There is a pseudogene for this gene on chromosome 13. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein containing tetratricopeptide repeats that was originally identified as induced upon treatment with interferon. The encoded protein may inhibit viral replication and translational initiation. This gene is located in a cluster on chromosome 10 with five other closely related genes. There is a pseudogene for this gene on chromosome 13. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2012]

Uniprot Description

IFIT1: IFN-induced antiviral protein which inhibits expression of viral messenger RNAs lacking 2'-O-methylation of the 5' cap. The ribose 2'-O-methylation would provide a molecular signature to distinguish between self and non-self mRNAs by the host during viral infection. Viruses evolved several ways to evade this restriction system such as encoding their own 2'-O-methylase for their mRNAs or by stealing host cap containing the 2'-O- methylation (cap snatching mechanism). Exhibits antiviral activity against several viruses including human papilloma and hepatitis C viruses. Belongs to the IFIT family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q23.31

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; RNA binding

Biological Process: intracellular transport of viral proteins in host cell; negative regulation of helicase activity; positive regulation of viral genome replication; negative regulation of viral genome replication; cytokine and chemokine mediated signaling pathway; response to virus; negative regulation of defense response to virus by host; negative regulation of protein binding; defense response to virus

Product Notes

The IFIT1 ifit1 (Catalog #AAA9434427) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The IFIT1 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IFIT1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:200-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IFIT1 ifit1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IFIT1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
