Uniprot Description

HOPX: Atypical homeodomain protein which does not bind DNA and is required to modulate cardiac growth and development. Acts via its interaction with SRF, thereby modulating the expression of SRF-dependent cardiac-specific genes and cardiac development. Prevents SRF-dependent transcription either by inhibiting SRF binding to DNA or by recruiting histone deacetylase (HDAC) proteins that prevent transcription by SRF. Overexpression causes cardiac hypertrophy. May act as a tumor suppressor. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: DNA-binding; Oncoprotein

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5|5 C3.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: DNA binding; protein binding

Biological Process: alveolus development; chaperone-mediated protein complex assembly; heart development; histone deacetylation; multicellular organism development; negative regulation of cell differentiation; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of skeletal muscle tissue regeneration; positive regulation of striated muscle cell differentiation; regulation of heart contraction; regulation of protein binding; regulation of transcription, DNA-templated; transcription, DNA-dependent; trophectodermal cell differentiation

Product Notes

The HOP hopx (Catalog #AAA2032425) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Homeodomain Only Protein (HOP) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Homeodomain Only Protein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western Blot: 1:50-400 Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 1:50-500 Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 1:100-200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HOP hopx for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Homeodomain Only Protein, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
