Target Description: The human HMG2a gene is transcribed mainly in the placenta. HMG2a encodes a protein which is part of the high mobility group (HMG) family. Members of this family are ubiquitously expressed and facilitate the formation of nucleoprotein complexes where the DNA is sharply bent.
