Biological Significance
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a lentivirus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a condition in humans in which the immune system begins to fail, leading to life-threatening opportunistic infections. HIV has several major genes coding for structural proteins that are found in all retroviruses, and several nonstructural ("accessory") genes that are unique to HIV.
Cross-Reactivity
This antibody recognizes wild type HIV-TAT protein
Immunogen
HIV1 tat antibody was raised in sheep using glutathione-S-transferase (GST) fusion protein (E Coli) as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Uniprot Description

TAT-SF1: Functions as a general transcription factor playing a role in the process of transcriptional elongation. May mediate the reciprocal stimulatory effect of splicing on transcriptional elongation. In case of infection by HIV-1, it is up-regulated by the HIV-1 proteins NEF and gp120, acts as a cofactor required for the Tat-enhanced transcription of the virus. Belongs to the HTATSF1 family.

Protein type: Transcription, coactivator/corepressor; Spliceosome

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xq26.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: nucleotide binding

Biological Process: regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; transcription, DNA-dependent; viral genome replication; regulation of RNA elongation

Product Notes

The HIV1 tat htatsf1 (Catalog #AAA535213) is an Antibody produced from Sheep and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's HIV1 tat can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, User optimized. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HIV1 tat htatsf1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HIV1 tat, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
