Related Product Information for anti-HK1 antibody
There are four major glucose-phosphorylating isoenzymes, designated Hexokinase 1 I, II, III, and IV (1). Hexokinase 1 activity is involved in the first step in several metabolic pathways including phosphorylation of glucose to produce glucose-6-phosphate, thus committing glucose to the glycolytic pathway (1,2). Hexokinase 1 2 is the predominant Hexokinase 1 isozyme expressed in insulin-responsive tissues such as skeletal muscle and its expression is insulin-responsive (3). It is involved in the increased rate of glycolysis seen in rapidly growing cancer cells (4).

NCBI Description

Hexokinases phosphorylate glucose to produce glucose-6-phosphate, the first step in most glucose metabolism pathways. This gene encodes a ubiquitous form of hexokinase which localizes to the outer membrane of mitochondria. Mutations in this gene have been associated with hemolytic anemia due to hexokinase deficiency. Alternative splicing of this gene results in several transcript variants which encode different isoforms, some of which are tissue-specific. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2016]

Product Notes

The HK1 hk1 (Catalog #AAA154388) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Hexokinase 1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Hexokinase 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Hexokinase 1 antibody can be used for detection of Hexokinase 1 by Western blot at 1 - 2 mug/ml. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HK1 hk1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Hexokinase 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
