NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane receptor for both human hepatitis A virus (HHAV) and TIMD4. The encoded protein may be involved in the moderation of asthma and allergic diseases. The reference genome represents an allele that retains a MTTVP amino acid segment that confers protection against atopy in HHAV seropositive individuals. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]
Uniprot Description
Function: May play a role in T-helper cell development and the regulation of asthma and allergic diseases. Receptor for TIMD4
By similarity. In case of human hepatitis A virus (HHAV) infection, functions as a cell-surface receptor for the virus. May play a role in kidney injury and repair. Ref.1 Ref.6
Subcellular location: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein
Probable.
Tissue specificity: Widely expressed, with highest levels in kidney and testis. Expressed by activated CD4+ T-cells during the development of helper T-cells responses. Ref.1
Induction: Up-regulated in the kidney in renal diseases (at protein level). Ref.6
Polymorphism: Infection by hepatitis A virus (HAV) protects individuals from atopy if they carry insertion of the variants Met-Thr-Thr-Val-Pro-157 and Met-Thr-Thr-Thr-Val-Pro-157. Modernisation has led to a reduction in HAV seroprevalence and thus, may be, to an increase of expression of atopy, such as asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis. Allelic variation does not affect HAV-infection rates in Caucasians, Asians and African Americans.
Miscellaneous: The extracellular part of the protein can be cleaved and detected in urine and is in correlation with the expression in the kidney.
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. TIM family.Contains 1 Ig-like V-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain.

Product Notes
The HAVCR1 havcr1 (Catalog #AAA649660) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HAVCR1, NT (HAVCR1, KIM1, TIM1, TIMD1, Hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 1, Kidney injury molecule 1, T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing protein 1, T-cell membrane protein 1, TIM-1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HAVCR1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HAVCR1 havcr1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HAVCR1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
