NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a type B histone acetyltransferase (HAT) that is involved in the rapid acetylation of newly synthesized cytoplasmic histones, which are in turn imported into the nucleus for de novo deposition onto nascent DNA chains. Histone acetylation, particularly of histone H4, plays an important role in replication-dependent chromatin assembly. Specifically, this HAT can acetylate soluble but not nucleosomal histone H4 at lysines 5 and 12, and to a lesser degree, histone H2A at lysine 5. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009]

Uniprot Description

HAT1: Acetylates soluble but not nucleosomal histone H4 at 'Lys-5' (H4K5ac) and 'Lys-12' (H4K12ac) and, to a lesser extent, acetylates histone H2A at 'Lys-5' (H2AK5ac). Has intrinsic substrate specificity that modifies lysine in recognition sequence GXGKXG. May be involved in nucleosome assembly during DNA replication and repair as part of the histone H3.1 and H3.3 complexes. May play a role in DNA repair in response to free radical damage. Belongs to the HAT1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The HAT1 hat1 (Catalog #AAA6479511) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HAT1, NT (Histone Acetyltransferase Type B Catalytic Subunit) (Azide free) (HRP) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HAT1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:50-1:100 ELISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HAT1 hat1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HAT1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
