Related Product Information for anti-HAAO antibody
HAAO (3-Hydroxyanthranilate 3, 4-dioxygenase) is a monomeric cytosolic protein of the family of intramolecular dioxygenases containing non-heme ferrous iron. It is widely distributed in peripheral organs, such as liver and kidney, and is present in low amounts in the central nervous system. This enzyme participates in tryptophan metabolism. It employs one cofactor, iron. HAAO catalyzes the synthesis of quinolinic acid (QUIN) from 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid. QUIN is an excitotoxin whose toxicity is mediated by its ability to activate glutamate N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors. Increased cerebral levels of QUIN may participate in the pathogenesis of neurological and inflammatory disorders. HAAO has been suggested to play a role in disorders associated with altered tissue levels of QUIN. Furthermore, recent study shows that HAAO are excellent candidate biomarkers for detecting ovarian cancer.

Uniprot Description

HAAO: Catalyzes the oxidative ring opening of 3- hydroxyanthranilate to 2-amino-3-carboxymuconate semialdehyde, which spontaneously cyclizes to quinolinate. Belongs to the 3-HAO family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Oxidoreductase; Amino Acid Metabolism - tryptophan; EC 1.13.11.6

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p21

Cellular Component: mitochondrial membrane; cytosol

Molecular Function: electron carrier activity; ferrous iron binding; oxygen binding; 3-hydroxyanthranilate 3,4-dioxygenase activity

Biological Process: anthranilate metabolic process; response to cadmium ion; response to zinc ion; quinolinate biosynthetic process; tryptophan catabolic process

Product Notes

The HAAO haao (Catalog #AAA9406597) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HAAO Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HAAO can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HAAO haao for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HAAO, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
