It promotes transcription elongation. Heterodimer of an alpha and a beta subunit. Interacts with GTF2F2, CTDP1, TAF6/TAFII80 and URI1. Up-regulated in response to enterovirus 71 (EV71) infection. Belongs to the TFIIF alpha subunit family.
