Related Product Information for anti-NR3C1 antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Glucocorticoid receptor(NR3C1) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P in Human;Rat.
Background: The glucocorticoid receptor (GR, or GCR), also known as NR3C1, is the receptor to which cortisol and other glucocorticoids bind. In humans, the GR protein is encoded by NR3C1 gene which is located on chromosome 5 (5q31). GR is expressed in almost every cell in the body and regulates genes controlling the development, metabolism, and immune response. Because the receptor gene is expressed in several forms, it has many different (pleiotropic) effects in different parts of the body. The activated GR complex up-regulates the expression of anti-inflammatory proteins in the nucleus or represses the expression of pro-inflammatory proteins in the cytosol (by preventing the translocation of other transcription factors from the cytosol into the nucleus).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes glucocorticoid receptor, which can function both as a transcription factor that binds to glucocorticoid response elements in the promoters of glucocorticoid responsive genes to activate their transcription, and as a regulator of other transcription factors. This receptor is typically found in the cytoplasm, but upon ligand binding, is transported into the nucleus. It is involved in inflammatory responses, cellular proliferation, and differentiation in target tissues. Mutations in this gene are associated with generalized glucocorticoid resistance. Alternative splicing of this gene results in transcript variants encoding either the same or different isoforms. Additional isoforms resulting from the use of alternate in-frame translation initiation sites have also been described, and shown to be functional, displaying diverse cytoplasm-to-nucleus trafficking patterns and distinct transcriptional activities (PMID:15866175). [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]

Uniprot Description

GR: transcription factor of the nuclear receptor family. Receptor for glucocorticoids (GC). Binds to glucocorticoid response elements (GRE) and modulates other transcription factors. Affects inflammatory responses, cellular proliferation and differentiation in target tissues. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The NR3C1 nr3c1 (Catalog #AAA177524) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-NR3C1 Antibody reacts with Human, Rat. No cross reactivity with other proteins. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Glucocorticoid receptor can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC-P). Western Blot: Concentration: 0.1-0.5mug/ml; Tested Species: Human Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin-embedded Section): Concentration: 0.5-1mug/ml; Tested Species: Human, Rat. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NR3C1 nr3c1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glucocorticoid receptor, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
