Related Product Information for anti-GL-R antibody
Glucagon Receptor is a member of the class B G-protein coupled family of receptors, coupled to G alpha i, Gs and to a lesser extent G alpha q. Stimulation of the receptor results in activation of adenylate cyclase and increased levels of intracellular cAMP. In humans, the glucagon receptor is encoded by the GCGR gene.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a glucagon receptor that is important in controlling blood glucose levels. Defects in this gene are a cause of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM).[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Uniprot Description

GCGR: This is a receptor for glucagon which plays a central role in regulating the level of blood glucose by controlling the rate of hepatic glucose production and insulin secretion. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase and also a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family.

Protein type: Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, integral; GPCR, family 2; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q25

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane; integral to membrane; endosome

Molecular Function: peptide hormone binding; guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity; glucagon receptor activity

Biological Process: G-protein signaling, coupled to cAMP nucleotide second messenger; response to starvation; generation of precursor metabolites and energy; exocytosis; hormone-mediated signaling; regulation of blood pressure; energy reserve metabolic process; glucose homeostasis; G-protein signaling, adenylate cyclase activating pathway; response to nutrient; positive regulation of GTPase activity

Disease: Diabetes Mellitus, Noninsulin-dependent

Product Notes

The GL-R gcgr (Catalog #AAA5314404) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Glucagon Receptor can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500-1:1000 IHC: 1:100-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GL-R gcgr for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glucagon Receptor, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
