Related Product Information for anti-GLRB antibody
GLRB (Glycine receptor beta) is a neurotransmitter-gated ion channel concentrated within the spinal cord and brainstem. Expression is also observed in several upper brain regions including the cortex, cerebellum, hippocampus and amygdala. Binding of glycine to GLRB increases the chloride conductance and thus produces hyperpolarization (inhibition of neuronal firing), controlling spinal reflexes and locomotor behavior.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the beta subunit of the glycine receptor, which is a pentamer composed of alpha and beta subunits. The receptor functions as a neurotransmitter-gated ion channel, which produces hyperpolarization via increased chloride conductance due to the binding of glycine to the receptor. Mutations in this gene cause startle disease, also known as hereditary hyperekplexia or congenital stiff-person syndrome, a disease characterized by muscular rigidity. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]

Uniprot Description

GLRB: The glycine receptor is a neurotransmitter-gated ion channel. Binding of glycine to its receptor increases the chloride conductance and thus produces hyperpolarization (inhibition of neuronal firing). Defects in GLRB are the cause of hyperekplexia type 2 (HKPX2). HKPX2 is a neurologic disorder characterized by muscular rigidity of central nervous system origin, particularly in the neonatal period, and by an exaggerated startle response to unexpected acoustic or tactile2 stimuli. Belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) family. Glycine receptor (TC 1.A.9.3) subfamily. GLRB sub- subfamily.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Transporter, ion channel; Transporter; Membrane protein, integral; Channel, ligand-gated

Product Notes

The GLRB glrb (Catalog #AAA3015391) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GLRB Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Pig, Cow, Horse, Rabbit, Sheep and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GLRB can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). IHC-P: 1:100-500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GLRB glrb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GLRB, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
