Application Notes
GATA3 antibody can be used for detection of GATA3 by Western blot at 1 - 2 mug/mL. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 2.5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL.

Preparation and Storage
GATA3 antibody can be stored at 4 degree C for three months and -20 degree C, stable for up to one year. As with all antibodies care should be taken to avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles. Antibodies should not be exposed to prolonged high temperatures.

GATA3 Antibody: GATA3 is a zinc finger transcription factor that was first recognized as a possible determinant of T cell development. Later studies demonstrated that it is expressed in trophoblast giant cells and regulates trophoblast-specific genes during development. Specifically, GATA3 is selectively expressed in the trophectoderm of the peri-implantation embryo and regulates CDX2, which is required for the transcriptional repression of the POU5F1/Oct4 and NANOG genes and is thus essential for the segregation of the inner cell mass and trophectoderm at the blastocyst stage. Decreased or null-expression expression of GATA3 has also been suggested to play a major role in the development and progression of luminal breast cancer.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein which belongs to the GATA family of transcription factors. The protein contains two GATA-type zinc fingers and is an important regulator of T-cell development and plays an important role in endothelial cell biology. Defects in this gene are the cause of hypoparathyroidism with sensorineural deafness and renal dysplasia. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]

Uniprot Description

GATA3: a transcriptional regulator central in Th2 cell differentiation. Inhibits breast cancer growth and pulmonary breast cancer metastasis. Represses INK4C transcription, constrains luminal progenitor cell expansion, and suppresses luminal tumorigenesis in the mammary gland. High GATA3 and low INK4C expression predicts a favorable patient outcome in luminal A type breast tumors. IFN-lambda1 (IL-29) inhibits GATA3 expression and suppresses Th2 responses in human T cells. GATA3 haploinsufficiency leads to HDR (hypoparathyroidism, deafness, and renal dysplasia) syndrome. Two alternatively spliced human isoforms have been described.
