NCBI Description

This gene is located within the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chromosome 17. Mutations in this gene are associated with Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome, which is characterized by fibrofolliculomas, renal tumors, lung cysts, and pneumothorax. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

May be a tumor suppressor. May be involved in energy and/or nutrient sensing through the AMPK and mTOR signaling pathways. May regulate phosphorylation of RPS6KB1.

Product Notes

The FLCN flcn (Catalog #AAA6476741) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The FLCN, CT (Folliculin, Birt-Hogg-Dube Syndrome Protein, BHD Skin Lesion Fibrofolliculoma Protein, BHD) (PE) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's FLCN can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-1:500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FLCN flcn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FLCN, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
