Related Product Information for anti-CD95; APO-1; TNFRSF 6 antibody
Fas/APO-1/CD95 is a 36 kDa cell surface type I-membrane glycoprotein with an apparent molecular weight of 44 kDa on SDS-PAGE. Fas belongs to the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) family, which includes TNFR1, TNFR2, CD27, CD30 and CD40. Binding of Fas-ligand (FasL) to Fas or crosslinking of Fas by anti-Fas monoclonal antibodies leads to apoptosis of Fas expressing cells. Both Fas and TNFR contain a 70 amino acid cytoplasmic "death domain" responsible for transmitting signals for apoptosis. Apoptosis induced by Fas-Fas ligand interaction is inhibited by a number of cytosolic factors such as the ICE/CED3 family inhibitor CrmA, and the short and long forms of FLIP. Insertion of an early transposable element in intron 2 of the Fas gene, as in the mouse lpr mutations, causes lymphoproliferation and autoimmunity in mutant mice, suggesting the involvement of Fas in clonal deletion of autoreactive T cells.

Uniprot Description

FAS: Receptor for TNFSF6/FASLG. The adapter molecule FADD recruits caspase-8 to the activated receptor. The resulting death- inducing signaling complex (DISC) performs caspase-8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases (aspartate-specific cysteine proteases) mediating apoptosis. FAS- mediated apoptosis may have a role in the induction of peripheral tolerance, in the antigen-stimulated suicide of mature T-cells, or both. The secreted isoforms 2 to 6 block apoptosis (in vitro). Binds DAXX. Interacts with HIPK3. Part of a complex containing HIPK3 and FADD. Binds RIPK1 and FAIM2. Interacts with BRE and FEM1B. Interacts with FADD. Isoform 1 and isoform 6 are expressed at equal levels in resting peripheral blood mononuclear cells. After activation there is an increase in isoform 1 and decrease in the levels of isoform 6. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CD95; APO-1; TNFRSF 6 fas (Catalog #AAA565230) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Fas polyclonal antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Fas can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB). Immunohistochemistry (1:50) Western Blot (1:1,000, ECL) Suggested dilutions/conditions may not be available for all applications. Detects a band of ~45kDa by Western blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD95; APO-1; TNFRSF 6 fas for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fas, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
