NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Prenyltransferases can attach either a farnesyl group or a geranylgeranyl group in thioether linkage to the cysteine residue of proteins with a C-terminal CAAX box. CAAX geranylgeranyltransferase and CAAX farnesyltransferase are heterodimers that share the same alpha subunit but have different beta subunits. This gene encodes the alpha subunit of these transferases. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 11 and 13. Uniprot Description
FNTA: Catalyzes the transfer of a farnesyl or geranyl-geranyl moiety from farnesyl or geranyl-geranyl pyrophosphate to a cysteine at the fourth position from the C-terminus of several proteins having the C-terminal sequence Cys-aliphatic-aliphatic-X. The alpha subunit is thought to participate in a stable complex with the substrate. The beta subunit binds the peptide substrate. Through RAC1 prenylation and activation may positively regulate neuromuscular junction development downstream of MUSK. Belongs to the protein prenyltransferase subunit alpha family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The FNTa fnta (Catalog #AAA2026937) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Farnesyltransferase Alpha (FNTa) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Farnesyltransferase Alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western blotting: 1-5ug/mL Immunocytochemistry in formalin fixed cells: 5-20ug/mL Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 5-20ug/mL Immunohistochemistry in paraffin section: 5-20ug/mL Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 0.05-2ug/mL Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FNTa fnta for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Farnesyltransferase Alpha, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
