Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

(Immunohistochemical analysis of ELOVL5 staining in human breast cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.)

NCBI Description

This gene belongs to the ELO family. It is highly expressed in the adrenal gland and testis, and encodes a multi-pass membrane protein that is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum. This protein is involved in the elongation of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. Mutations in this gene have been associated with spinocerebellar ataxia-38 (SCA38). Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2014]

Uniprot Description

ELOVL5: Condensing enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of monounsaturated and of polyunsaturated very long chain fatty acids Acts specifically toward polyunsaturated acyl-CoA with the higher activity toward C18:3(n-6) acyl-CoA. Belongs to the ELO family.

Protein type: EC 2.3.1.199; Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Lipid Metabolism - unsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p12.1

Product Notes

The ELOVL5 elovl5 (Catalog #AAA8242275) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-ELOVL5 Antibody reacts with Human, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ELOVL5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Western Blot: (1/500 - 1/1000); Immunohistochemistry: (1/100 - 1/200). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ELOVL5 elovl5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ELOVL5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
