Related Product Information for anti-DSTN antibody
The product of this gene belongs to the actin-binding proteins ADF family. This family of proteins is responsible for enhancing the turnover rate of actin in vivo. This gene encodes the actin depolymerizing protein that severs actin filaments (F-actin) and binds to actin monomers (G-actin). Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.

NCBI Description

The product of this gene belongs to the actin-binding proteins ADF family. This family of proteins is responsible for enhancing the turnover rate of actin in vivo. This gene encodes the actin depolymerizing protein that severs actin filaments (F-actin) and binds to actin monomers (G-actin). Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Destrin: an actin-depolymerizing cytoskeletal protein that belongs to the ADF actin-binding protein family. Severs actin filaments (F-actin) and binds to actin monomers (G-actin). Present in many vertebrate tissues and particularly abundant in neuronal cells. It binds F-actin in a pH-dependent manner which affects it's severing/depolymerizing activities. It also binds G-actin at pH 8.0 thereby sequestering monomers and preventing polymerization.

Protein type: Actin-binding; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 20p12.1

Cellular Component: cortical actin cytoskeleton; actin cytoskeleton

Molecular Function: actin binding

Biological Process: actin filament depolymerization; actin filament severing; positive regulation of actin filament depolymerization; actin polymerization and/or depolymerization

Product Notes

The DSTN dstn (Catalog #AAA2522024) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DSTN Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DSTN can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DSTN dstn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DSTN, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
