NCBI Description

Members of the ribonuclease III superfamily of double-stranded (ds) RNA-specific endoribonucleases participate in diverse RNA maturation and decay pathways in eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells (Fortin et al., 2002 [PubMed 12191433]). The RNase III Drosha is the core nuclease that executes the initiation step of microRNA (miRNA) processing in the nucleus (Lee et al., 2003 [PubMed 14508493]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

DROSHA: a nuclear type-III RNase that, along with the DGCR8, executes the initial step of microRNA (miRNA) processing in the nucleus. Cleaves the local hairpin structures embedded in long primary microRNA transcripts (pri-miRNAs) into pre-miRNAs. Involved in pre-rRNA processing. Cleaves double-strand RNA and does not cleave single-strand RNA. Interacts with Sp1. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Nucleolus; RNA processing; EC 3.1.26.3; Ribonuclease; RNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5p13.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; nucleolus

Molecular Function: protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; ribonuclease III activity; lipopolysaccharide binding; metal ion binding

Biological Process: defense response to Gram-positive bacterium; pre-microRNA processing; rRNA catabolic process; ribosome biogenesis and assembly; gene expression; primary microRNA processing; defense response to Gram-negative bacterium

Product Notes

The DROSHA drosha (Catalog #AAA820664) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-DROSHA Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DROSHA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB (1/500 - 1/1000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DROSHA drosha for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DROSHA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
