Related Product Information for anti-DRD2 antibody
The DRD2 Dopamine Receptor is involved in the neuromodulation of appetitive behaviors. DRD2 may be linked to alcoholism and other substance-use disorders. Mutations in DRD2 in mice lead to the suppression of reward behavior with morphine and to the reduction of spontaneous movements, a phenotype resembling Parkinson's disease. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been identified. DRD2 has been reported to be expressed in various regions of the brain, as well as in aorta, artery, eye, and spinal cord. ESTs have been isolated from normal pituitary and in brain, colon, lung, pancreas, and skeletal muscle cancer libraries.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the D2 subtype of the dopamine receptor. This G-protein coupled receptor inhibits adenylyl cyclase activity. A missense mutation in this gene causes myoclonus dystonia; other mutations have been associated with schizophrenia. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms. A third variant has been described, but it has not been determined whether this form is normal or due to aberrant splicing. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

DRD2: Dopamine receptor whose activity is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase. Defects in DRD2 are associated with dystonia type 11 (DYT11); also known as alcohol-responsive dystonia. DYT11 is a myoclonic dystonia. Dystonia is defined by the presence of sustained involuntary muscle contractions, often leading to abnormal postures. DYT11 is characterized by involuntary lightning jerks and dystonic movements and postures alleviated by alcohol. Inheritance is autosomal dominant. The age of onset, pattern of body involvement, presence of myoclonus and response to alcohol are all variable. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

The DRD2 drd2 (Catalog #AAA629711) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Dopamine Receptor, D2, aa272-282 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry, Western Blot and ELISA. Dilution: Immunocytochemistry: 1:5000 Western Blot: 1:800 Optimal dilution determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DRD2 drd2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Dopamine Receptor, D2, aa272-282, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
