NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Part of dinB-yafNOP operon. [More information is available at EcoGene: EG13141]. dinB encodes DNA polymerase IV (DNA pol IV), which belongs to the Y family of DNA polymerases . [More information is available at EcoCyc: G6115].
Uniprot Description
Poorly processive, error-prone DNA polymerase involved in translesion repair and untargeted mutagenesis (PubMed:10488344, PubMed:10801133). Copies undamaged DNA at stalled replication forks, which arise in vivo from mismatched or misaligned primer ends. These misaligned primers can be extended by Pol IV. Exhibits no 3'-5' exonuclease (proofreading) activity (PubMed:10488344). Overexpression of Pol IV results in increased frameshift mutagenesis. It is required for stationary-phase adaptive mutation, which provides the bacterium with flexibility in dealing with environmental stress, enhancing long-term survival and evolutionary fitness. Not seen to be involved in translesion snythesis even when stimulated by the beta slding-clamp and clamp-loading complex, which do however increase non-targeted DNA polymerse efficiency 3,000-fold, may be due to targeting to stalled replication forks on nondamaged DNA (PubMed:10801133, PubMed:16168375). Involved in translesional synthesis, in conjunction with the beta clamp from PolIII (PubMed:14592985, PubMed:14729336).

Product Notes
The dinB dinb (Catalog #AAA7194471) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit anti-Escherichia coli (strain K12) dinB Polyclonal Antibody reacts with E Coli (strain K12) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's dinB can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), WB (Western Blot) (ensure identification of antigen). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the dinB dinb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "dinB, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
