Related Product Information for anti-DGCR8 antibody
MicroRNAs (miRNA) are a recently discovered family of short non-protein-coding RNAs that negatively regulate gene expression. Recent studies of miRNAs highlight a requirement for cell viability. Post-transcriptional silencing of target genes by miRNAs occurs either by targeting specific cleavage of homologous mRNAs, or by targeting specific inhibition of protein synthesis.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a subunit of the microprocessor complex which mediates the biogenesis of microRNAs from the primary microRNA transcript. The encoded protein is a double-stranded RNA binding protein that functions as the non-catalytic subunit of the microprocessor complex. This protein is required for binding the double-stranded RNA substrate and facilitates cleavage of the RNA by the ribonuclease III protein, Drosha. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

DGCR8: a double strand RNA binding protein (dsRBP) which is essential for the first processing step of primary miRNAs (pri-miRNAs). Apparently binds and is activated by heme. A nuclear complex of Drosha with DGCR8 cleaves pri-miRNA substrates into 60-70 nucleotide intermediates (pre-miRNA), thus initiating the microRNA maturation process. Drosha provides the catalytic site for this cleavage, whereas DGCR8 (Pasha) anchors substrate pri-miRNAs. Pre-miRNAs are then processed by the cytoplasmic Dicer-TRBP complex to approximately 20-22 nt mature miRNAs.

Product Notes

The DGCR8 (Catalog #AAA625732) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DGCR8, ID (DiGeorge Syndrome Critical Region 8, Microprocessor Complex Subunit DGCR8, C22orf12, DGCRK6, LP4941) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DGCR8 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DGCR8 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DGCR8, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
