NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan family of proteins. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes a preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protein. This protein plays a role in collagen fibril assembly. Binding of this protein to multiple cell surface receptors mediates its role in tumor suppression, including a stimulatory effect on autophagy and inflammation and an inhibitory effect on angiogenesis and tumorigenesis. This gene and the related gene biglycan are thought to be the result of a gene duplication. Mutations in this gene are associated with congenital stromal corneal dystrophy in human patients. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]

Uniprot Description

DCN: May affect the rate of fibrils formation. Defects in DCN are the cause of congenital stromal corneal dystrophy (CSCD). Corneal dystrophies are inherited, bilateral, primary alterations of the cornea that are not associated with prior inflammation or secondary to systemic disease. Most show autosomal dominant inheritance. Belongs to the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family. SLRP class I subfamily. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The DCN dcn (Catalog #AAA6472160) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DCN, ID (DCN, Bone Proteoglycan II, CSCD, DSPG2, PG40, PGII, PGS2, Small Leucine Rich Protein 1B, SLRR1B) (MaxLight 650) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DCN can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:50-1:100 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DCN dcn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DCN, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
