Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

(Immunohistochemical analysis of DCIR staining in human brain formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.)

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the C-type lectin/C-type lectin-like domain (CTL/CTLD) superfamily. Members of this family share a common protein fold and have diverse functions, such as cell adhesion, cell-cell signalling, glycoprotein turnover, and roles in inflammation and immune response. The encoded type 2 transmembrane protein may play a role in inflammatory and immune response. Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. This gene is closely linked to other CTL/CTLD superfamily members on chromosome 12p13 in the natural killer gene complex region. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CLEC4A: May be involved in regulating immune reactivity. May play a role in modulating dendritic cells (DC) differentiation and/or maturation. May be involved via its ITIM motif (immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs) in the inhibition of B-cell-receptor-mediated calcium mobilization and protein tyrosine phosphorylation. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12p13

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: transmembrane receptor activity

Biological Process: cell adhesion; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; stimulatory C-type lectin receptor signaling pathway

Product Notes

The CLEC4A clec4a (Catalog #AAA8248297) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-DCIR Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DCIR can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1/500 - 1/2000; Immunohistochemistry: 1/50 - 1/200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CLEC4A clec4a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DCIR, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
