NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of a multienzyme complex that functions in mediating the attachment of amino acids to their cognate tRNAs. The encoded protein ligates L-aspartate to tRNA(Asp). Mutations in this gene have been found in patients showing hypomyelination with brainstem and spinal cord involvement and leg spasticity. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2014]

Uniprot Description

DARS: Catalyzes the specific attachment of an amino acid to its cognate tRNA in a 2 step reaction: the amino acid (AA) is first activated by ATP to form AA-AMP and then transferred to the acceptor end of the tRNA. Belongs to the class-II aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase family.

Protein type: Translation; EC 6.1.1.12; Ligase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q21.3

Cellular Component: membrane; cytoplasm; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; aspartate-tRNA ligase activity; ATP binding; aminoacylase activity

Biological Process: tRNA aminoacylation for protein translation; translation; aspartyl-tRNA aminoacylation; protein complex assembly; gene expression

Disease: Hypomyelination With Brainstem And Spinal Cord Involvement And Leg Spasticity

Product Notes

The DARS dars (Catalog #AAA6290853) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DARS, NT (DARS, Aspartate-tRNA ligase, cytoplasmic, Aspartyl-tRNA synthetase, Cell proliferation-inducing gene 40 protein) (MaxLight 405) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DARS can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), FLISA, Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB). FC/FACS: 1:10-50 FLISA: 1:1,000 IF: 1:10-50 IHC: 1:50-100 WB: 1:50-100 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DARS dars for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DARS, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
