NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane-bound cytochrome that reduces ferric hemoglobin (methemoglobin) to ferrous hemoglobin, which is required for stearyl-CoA-desaturase activity. Defects in this gene are a cause of type IV hereditary methemoglobinemia. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]
Uniprot Description
CYB5A: Cytochrome b5 is a membrane bound hemoprotein which function as an electron carrier for several membrane bound oxygenases. Defects in CYB5A are the cause of methemoglobinemia CYB5A-related (METHB-CYB5A). A form of methemoglobinemia, a hematologic disease characterized by the presence of excessive amounts of methemoglobin in blood cells, resulting in decreased oxygen carrying capacity of the blood, cyanosis and hypoxia. Belongs to the cytochrome b5 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

The CYB5A cyb5a (Catalog #AAA6006310) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CYB5A, ID (CYB5A, CYB5, Cytochrome b5, Microsomal cytochrome b5 type A) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CYB5A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry: 1:10-50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CYB5A cyb5a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CYB5A, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
