NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the formation of CTP from UTP with the concomitant deamination of glutamine to glutamate. This protein is the rate-limiting enzyme in the synthesis of cytosine nucleotides, which play an important role in various metabolic processes and provide the precursors necessary for the synthesis of RNA and DNA. Cancer cells that exhibit increased cell proliferation also exhibit an increased activity of this encoded protein. Thus, this protein is an attractive target for selective chemotherapy. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

CTPS2: Catalyzes the ATP-dependent amination of UTP to CTP with either L-glutamine or ammonia as the source of nitrogen. Constitutes the rate-limiting enzyme in the synthesis of cytosine nucleotides. Belongs to the CTP synthase family.

Product Notes

The CTPS2 ctps2 (Catalog #AAA6470822) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CTPS2, NT (CTP Synthetase 2, UTP-ammonia Ligase 2, CTP Synthase 2) (APC) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CTPS2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-1:500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CTPS2 ctps2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CTPS2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
