Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Connective tissue growth factor(CTGF) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P in Human;Rat.

Background: CTGF, also known as CCN2 or connective tissue growth factor, is a matricellular protein of the CCN family of extracellular matrix-associated heparin-binding proteins (see also CCN intercellular signaling protein). CTGF has important roles in many biological processes, including cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, angiogenesis, skeletal development, and tissue wound repair, and is critically involved in fibrotic disease and several forms of cancers. The protein encoded by this gene is a mitogen that is secreted by vascular endothelial cells. And the encoded protein plays a role in chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation, cell adhesion in many cell types, and is related to platelet-derived growth factor. Certain polymorphisms in this gene have been linked with a higher incidence of systemic sclerosis.

Uniprot Description

CTGF: Major connective tissue mitoattractant secreted by vascular endothelial cells. Promotes proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes. Mediates heparin- and divalent cation-dependent cell adhesion in many cell types including fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, endothelial and epithelial cells. Enhances fibroblast growth factor-induced DNA synthesis. Belongs to the CCN family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CTGF ctgf (Catalog #AAA178049) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-CTGF Antibody reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CTGF can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. Western Blot Concentration: 0.1-0.5ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin Concentration: 0.5-1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CTGF ctgf for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CTGF, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
